Camping Gear Checklist

Winter is giving way to spring, which understandably will make you want to go camping again.Regardless of whether you’re going camping with friends or with family, and how long your trip will last, there are a few things you can’t forget to take with you.

Having the right camping gear will help you have the best possible camping experience.

Essentials

One of the most important items when you go camping is, of course, a tent. You wouldn’t be able to properly go camping without one! Make sure that you not only buy one that keeps you dry and comfy, but also one that you can set up when you get to your camping site. Practice at home if you’re unsure! Additionally, a groundsheet to place under your tent will protect the tent’s floor.

And, obviously, a good sleeping bag is needed. If the weather is still a bit chilly, there are sleeping bags that can keep you nice and warm. Or help to cool you down if you’ve picked a lovely, warm location for your camping.

Keep a trusty duct tape roll with you – you never know when you’ll need to fix something and duct tape always does the job. Add some spare tent pegs to your list, just in case you catch a windy day and need a few extra. Including a mallet to safely knock them into place, of course.

Safety

A first aid kit is extremely important, as you never know when an unexpected cut or injury can happen. It’s better to be prepared and ready for any eventuality than to need it and not have it! Antiseptic spray will make sure any cut is free from infection and hand sanitiser will disinfect your hands before you eat. And when camping, eating with your hands can be quite fun.

Depending on where you’re camping – in a park or in a well-known location or off the trail – reflective jackets and life jackets can make a big difference. In addition, a lantern will guarantee you see and find your way during the night. Add a headlight to your list for a more practical choice.

When camping off the trail, having a compass with you is sure to help you get your bearings if you ever need to find your way back to your camping site. A pocket knife is always useful, whether you need to cut your food or use it in an emergency.

Cooking

Having food and drinks to last the entirety of your camping trip is vital, so make sure to pack a bit extra. You never know when you might feel like having an extra snack! Additionally, having kitchen foil and kitchen wrap will keep your food fresh and the bugs away.

Cups, plates, and cutlery are vital for everyone to be able to enjoy their meal. If your camping site doesn’t have a seating area, then foldable tables and chairs will do trick. Take a cooler with you to keep everything from spoiling. Bin bags will keep you from littering and polluting the environment.

And to cook delicious meals and marshmallows, what better than to take a camping stove with you? Make sure to have plenty of camping gas to go along with it, so you don’t run out. In addition to guaranteeing you can cook your food, camping gas also provides you with high-quality fuel for your lanterns.

Other Items

Camping is all about having fun and spending quality time with your loved ones. Don’t forget to take a few games with you to keep entertained and to relax after going exploring and for walks. Some books are perfect for a bit of night light reading, and binoculars are great to spot the local wildlife.

And why not take a travel journey, to write all about your trip? You won’t regret writing down your memories and reliving all the fun you had for years to come.
